What is the Introductory Period?
At Upshift, we value quality and reliability from our Upshifters. We have an Introductory Period for all Upshifters to help ensure that everyone is set up for success. This period covers your first five shifts or the completion of five full punch cards on the platform. During this time, important rules and consequences are in place to maintain the high standards expected by our clients.
What Happens During the Introductory Period?
During the Introductory Period, strikes and offenses are handled more strictly:
Any last-minute cancellation (within 24 hours of the shift start time) will result in three strikes and a permanent suspension from the platform. Additionally, 1-strike offenses during the first five shifts will be counted as 2-strikes throughout the Introductory Period.
Two-Strike Offenses on Your First Five Shifts
Certain offenses on your first five shifts can result in two strikes, and these are taken very seriously throughout the Introductory Period. Here's a breakdown of these key offenses:
Dress Code Violation (First Shifts): Failing to follow the guidelines listed in the shift’s “What to Wear” section during your first shift will result in a two-strike penalty.
Tardiness (First Shifts): Being late to your first-ever shift, arriving after the posted start time, and causing disruption to the client’s service will lead to two strikes, especially if Upshift is not notified.
Failure to Read Shift Description (First Shifts): Not reviewing the shift posting thoroughly, resulting in issues related to job duties, uniform, or attendance on your first shift, is another two-strike offense.
Leaving Early (First Shifts): If you leave your shift before the posted end time, even after notifying the on-site supervisor or Upshift within one hour of leaving, this will incur two strikes.
Unprofessional Conduct (First Shifts): Any display of unprofessional behavior, such as disrespectful communication or improper workplace etiquette during your first shift, will also result in two strikes.
Why the Stricter Rules?
The Introductory Period is designed to ensure new Upshifters start strong by demonstrating commitment and reliability from the very beginning. Our clients trust us to provide punctual, professional, and well-prepared staff, and these expectations are reflected in the penalties during this period.
How to avoid these strikes?
Make sure to prepare well for your first shifts by reading all shift details, arriving on time, following the dress code, and adhering to professional conduct. Your success in the Introductory Period sets the stage for a positive experience on Upshift!
